Description
Naota has enough to deal with at home. His older brother went to the US to play baseball. And his father and grandfather never behave like normal adults. Not to mention his brother's girlfriend is now making advances on him. Plus there's a so-called alien girl hitting on him. Literally. With a bass guitar. Oh, did we mention the robots that keep springing from his head.

FLCL isn't the kind of show you put on for someone who's never seen anime before. GAINAX shows their otaku side again, and the result is much like their earlier work, Otaku no Video. It's basically a three-hour collection of in-jokes about anime and culture, and it's a lot more enjoyable if you're well-versed . . .

This has no relevance to the story whatsoever, but it looks cool.

This is the town Naota lives in. There is a giant iron on the the hill.

The sybolism of the rickenbacker? Tsurumaki Kazuya likes them. KABONG!

Tsurumaki Kazuya also likes Vespas.

Father from another series?

This is the weirdest thing I've ever seen... Coolest charectors, weirdest story, funniest jokes, everything about it is great. It is very confusing at times, but the last episode sort of ties it all up. It's just... FLCL. You need this!

I myself only find time to search animes that are equal to or better in quality to eva. FLCL deffinetly fits in this category. From its scribbly animation to its fast paced nonsense, i enjoyed it immensely. Its really hard to explain this series at all. Its defineately worth the money if your a gainax fan trust me

Of all the shows I wanted to see a good HK of, this one was tops. I mean, who wants to spend $75 on 3 DVD's for only 6 episodes? I was ready to expect little from this release, since it's MUCH cheaper, but it's damn-near perfect! The only difference I can really tell from the R1's is that episode 3 is a little blurry! Everything else is wonderful!

Sound: I didn't hear anything out of the oridinary. Perfect sound all the way.
Video: Oh, boy. The third episode made my eyes hurt, it was that blury. The rest was okay, just the good parts started to pixelate.
Subtitles: I watched this with English dub, but I turned on the subs every once in a while. They were pretty good. No missplellings I could see.
The Rest This show has a lot of humour. A very funny show with hilarious physical comedy. Make sure you listen very well though. There are a lot of jokes that you won't hear unless you liten closey.
Also, I had troubles finding a DVD player that this actually worked with. I ended up using my Xbox. Apparently, Apex doesn't like Furi Curi (too spicey, maybe?).

I've seen parts of this before and all I gotta say is it's as fuckin crazy as I thought. I mean what do you say about a kid whose right and left cerebral hemispheres create a dimensional gate through which thiings can be transported and a whacked out female alien who rides around on a Vespa? Not to mention all the totally crazy cast? I gave the video a lower than normal score because of a lot of graininess. The audio was perfect 2 channel stereo. Don't know or care about the subtitles. Good buy.

Fooly Cooly is THE Gainax masterpiece (yes even over Eva IMHO)This series is simply breathtaking. When I finished it it felt like a part of myself had been taken from me. To fully appreciate it I would recomend you pay very close attention and never blink. Also, to fully appreciate all the jokes you should: *have seen some Lupin (including the intro),Evangelion ,Castle of Cogliostro *know what Hamtaro, Doreamon, and gundam are *know the difference between manga and anime. The sound is crisp and clear with a remarcable soundtrack that could only be surpassed by that of Yokko kano, or Jo Hisaishi's work. The video is good but gets a little zig-zaggy on the lines at times. The sub's are good with no engrish, it's very visible, and is well timed;although I recommend the dubbing otherwise you will miss out on some great symbolism, metaphors, and jokes. Character design...WOW, flawless. The story is very good but is crammed into the final episode for the most part. The enjoyability is very high IMHO.This is a deep and very involved series that I definitely recommend. Especially since the store bought version is aprox. $75 for a mesely 6 six episodes; which, by the way, I would have gladly paid if not for ANIMEniacs here. YOU BUY NOW!!
