Battle Royale Remastered Extended Version [EZD]
Our Price: $2.00 (MSRP: $14.99)
Kinji Fukasaku's Battle Royale is among the most controversial films of last years. It is based on the Japanese novel that was very provoking and "shocked the nation." The plot is simple: at the dawn of the new millennium (the film is set in near future)the nation collapsed and all kind of social menaces were born as students started to boycott their schools and act very violently towards teachers and adults in general. Unemployment numbers were alarmingly huge and everything was going to fall apart. The Battle Royale act was created and it meant that every year, one ninth grade class was chosen by random to play "Battle Royale" which turns out to be savage hunting game in order to stay alive. The game is played in deserted island in the middle of the sea. The rule is that only one of the 40+ students is allowed to survive and the winner is the one who is last alive. They have 3 days time to fight and if there are more than one person alive after three days, everyone will be killed. They can't escape as they have deadly necklaces that explode if they try to rip them off or try to escape or do something that is against the "rules." The chosen ninth grade's teacher is played by Takeshi Kitano with his usual charisma and sense of very dark and wry humor. It is not necessary to tell anything more about the story since this is all that can be told without spoiling anything. In few words: a human hunting/killing game in which only one can be a winner. You may need to kill your closest friend or girlfriend if you want to stay alive..

The tagline for this film was the gruesome phrase "Could you kill your best friend?" It's fitting to the film, however overused it may be. Come the turn of the millennium, Japanese teens are out of control, they boycott school and terrorize the adults who lived in constant fear of them. So the adults . . .
When you see a little girl covered in blood not one minute into the film, it should give you an idea of what's to come.
This is not MXC, and they don't call him "Beat" Takeshi Kitano for nothing.
Yeah, real lucky...
They look cute, and then they try to stab you in the face.
taking 30 some 8th graders and forcing them to kill eachother with randomized weapons on a solitary Island... Priceless!!!
this movie is awsome, I must admit very dark and cruel but that was what I was looking for when I watched it. If you've seen resevour dogs... you have a decent idea as to the direction of this movie, I've been waiting for it to be available for the last 3 months ans it still isn't!!! I hope to get my hands on it and if you get a chance to... DONT MISS IT

This movie is phenomenal.
Absolutely phenomenal. After
just one viewing, I have placed it
on my top 5 list of all time.
Anyone looking for a good movie

The sound is of great quality, and
it features a classic soundtrack
with all the right nuances to it's
brutality. In fact, the entire film is
this way. everything accentuates
everything else. The acting is
wonderful, the story is awesome,
and the characters are
breathtaking. Some of the
characters have you laughing
while others will have you
terrified that such people could
exist. In fact, there is only one
aspect of this DVD that is close
to bad; the subtitles. While
they're never bad enough to be
called rotten, there are a few
times when the subs zip past or
are simply translated or spelled
so badly that you're left
scratching your head. However,
the circumstances will more than

The DVD also features several
extras, such as the usual

they are in English, and I never
found myself lost in them.
I'd recommend this film to
anyone who isn't overly
squeamish and disturbed at a bit

Battle Royale is a mixed bag. On one hand, we have great video and sound quality, on the other, we have subtitles that skip dialogue. This annoying little trait can leave one who has not read the book confused to what's happening in the movie. Overall, still a good product. A must have for BR fans such as myself.
